Insomniac babbling

Heyy, just passing some time here!
Actually I have to wake up for work in about 1 hour and I can already imagine tomorrow’s gonna be a loooooong day. Afterwards I’ll be doing some shopping for Annyeong!Party VII on Saturday! So be sure to attend for it’s going to be fun, trust me! I’m creating something hopefully fabulous to wear on Saturday, here’s a sneak peek what it MIGHT be:

I’ve been listening to Sainkho Namtchylak a lot during the past days. Listening to this music actually gave me several ideas for costumes to do in the future, also for A!P7. I mean, how can you not love a really expressive old woman who can imitate bird sounds for 4 minutes or is an amazing throat singer? Well then again, music to my ears isn’t just about catchy melodies or stuff like that. Here’s two songs off from her Stepmother City -album.

Sainkho Namtchylak – Dance of Eagle

Sainkho Namtchylak – Ritual Virtuality

cali≠gari also had a new album, 11, out a week ago or so and it’s still growing in me. A little more mainstream approach, but their weird & quirky vibe is still strongly present throughout the album and that’s enough for me to enjoy! I especially love how a somewhat light and poppy song is always followed by a song of completely different nature. Some songs on it actually feel like some good old Dai 7 -era songs, just way polished and brought out to fit together with their current sound.

cali≠gari – 娑婆乱打

cali≠gari – 吐イテ棄テロ

Nothing too special is going on atm. Here’s two ‘going to work/home’ outfit -pics from this month:

I also renewed my facebook and decided to keep it a bit more open from now on because… well, that’s where I’m mostly around and the fb privacy settings are fun.

First of the year

Well look at this, I haven’t been around much. To be honest I’m quite out of energy with the whole blogging experience and I’m such a bad blogger anyways, but I’ll still keep this up and keep posting stuff every now and then! I should really find my spark again, but Finland just kills my creativity for some reason, almost completely.

The past month I’ve spent at work mostly. I didn’t even have time to see my family (other than my mom) on Christmas because of this. But really, I’m not too much into Christmas and this year the weather also was just nasty & rainy throughout the holidays.

Few days ago I played around with my old face paint and eyeshadows while listening to The Lady of the Cold -song (= 静けさにつつまれて) from one of my favorite shows; Moomins. And this is what happened when I went with the flow:

I was just practicing some basic blending and changing facial structure (obviously didn’t do that good with it), but I kinda liked the result for it just being a quick smudge on the face! Who knows, maybe I’ll wear something like this on some future occassion.

And that brings me down to the New Year’s Eve celebration that we held at my place. There were loootts of ppl and even more mess afterwards, but why why what a wonderful night it was. I had a special outfit planned for the night which I actually drew down few weeks back, but I do wish I could have had time & money to create something different.

Thx Viivi for the pics.

I ended up changing my outfit at least 3 times for some reason and ended up with the more showy one.
Afterwards some of us (including me) took a taxi downtown and went to dtm for the last time. I wore the same outfit there, sprayed the world with glitter spray and partied like some desert animal.
It’s weird how Finnish ppl suddenly become so interesting when you shake their perception, hoho.

Had fun tho! But in the morning my ankles weren’t feeling so fresh. Those 20cm high heels I had couldn’t always keep my head up in the clouds if you know what I mean, krhm.

Anygays, I hope everyone had a nice year and hopefully next one will even be better for everyone!
I could have wished something more out of 2011, so let’s see if I can enjoy 2012 more. Bah.
But I am excited about the first two upcoming months! :—) And also a little afraid of what happens afterwards… Maybe my resolution this year will be something about not worrying too much as I’ve noticed ~few~ times already that the depressive effect of not knowing what to do seriously makes my head less stable.

PS. Here’s something for you guys to look forward to:

Casually Smart

Beginning with one recent outfit. Me + brown color is something very uncommon.
DIY necklace & skirt, second hand shirt (Brazil), eBay leggings, Clarks boots.

The previous week literally flied past me. Might have been the fact that my longing for Brazil drove me being more proactive and I actually got some things done in time, along with some personal stuff I’ve been meaning to do for quite a while now, whether they were rewarding or not.
Anyway, whatever the reason was, last week was surprisingly delightful landing week to get back to my normal livelihood.

Around the midway I took a quick turn downtown in search for a shop that would sell plastics similar to the ones I bought in Brazil. Just for making costumes and stuff. Etola seems to sell some decorative plastics I was looking for, but with very limited selection.

Does anyone know any good place to buy different sheets of plastics in Helsinki?

Stuff like I wore in my previous post. And elsewhere than from some factories with prices per 500kg.

Along the way I visited Eurokangas from where I accidentally found myself a leftover piece of some fancy & expensive Armani fabric that was on sale. The price wasn’t much so I bought it as the shiny, sturdy fabric was just too pretty to leave behind. I got a sudden idea for it and the piece was just enough to sew myself a skirt, so that’s what I did:

It’s really not that hard at all to sew a skirt, but even how silly it might sound, I actually am quite proud of what I did as this probably is the first cloth ever I have done with paying a bit more attention to details such as seams & measurements altogether. :–D It has two layers in the front and zipper in the back.

Also, on weekend Niklas held a fancy party carrying the name of ‘Long Island Cocktail Party‘. The dress code for this gathering was cocktail / smart & casual, which in my books sounds rather lovely. And this is my outfit for the evening:

Hanjiro shirt, eBay ribbon, GADGET GROW cardigan, DIY necklace, skirt (the one I just made) & arm piece (by my bf), eBay leggings, Clarks boots.

Niklas had also arranged snacks, champagne and punch for all the guests. It was lovely to see so many friends after a good while, especially when everyone was dressed up so neat. Altogether there was about 30 people attending.

The rye bread + pork + licorice snacks in the front were t-a-s-t-y.

Marinka, Me, Tuomas & Sini. Everyone being pretty.

Reetta & Me.
Taken just before everyone left out for clubbing. I was first going too, but on the way decided it's better to just go home and leave the being night perfect as it already was.
More parties like these for me, thanks!
